Possible Indoor Gardening with HID Lightning A Garden Sage Lesson
So thanks to the invention of HID lighting, indoor gardening became possible. Now we've got this whole booming industry growing uparound us. We're moving into decades of legacy. This is the technology that made itall possible. We've got metal halide highpressure sodiumlighting. We had our typical screwin bulb style, righté This has been there for us for25 years. It's been great. One of the biggest things that growers are always after is what'sthat new lightingé Is it LEDé Is it plasmaé What is ité What's going to be, fiber opticséThere's always so much hype around these things. But then when it comes to stable cropproduction, getting paid, being reliable,
we've only been able to count really onthe HID lighting. We see a little bit of mixing of LEDs here and there, but. So what's the new thingé What's the latest, greatesté How are we moving forwardé We're moving away from this archaic screwin situationto the next level with what we're calling doubleended, DE, so that's how you'regoing to hear about it. This is the 1000 DE by Gavita. This is reallya professionalgrade commercially viable unit. As you can see, it's not remote ballast. What we're looking at is the ballast directly connected to the ignition sites with hightempLEDs. The bulb is being fired from both ends,
so we're seeing the most complete ignitionof gas as possible. We are seeing the most amount of light for 1,000 watts that we'veever seen before. They've really taken the time to make thiscommercially viable. The reflector is replaceable, which is very important. In my opinion, ifyou ever buy a reflector where you cannot replace the actual reflective material, itwas really a waste of money because reflective materials do not last forever. If this materialis not giving you the proper light balance, then you're just wasting money. You canreplace this reflector every 2 years and therefore keep your highend unitoptimum production. The bulbs will need to be replaced every 2
years, and so essentially, as I said, theseunits are being hung with the ballast attached to the lighting commercial style. Another really massive advancement with thisis we're no longer plugging all of theseto timer boards and having these timerboards switching large loads. We're able to get away from these. We're plugging theseto constant power sources and then the Gavita Master Controller is linking up to these unitswith little phone cords. The little phone cords are pluggingto theses jack righthere and simply telling the unit to turn off and on. This ismy opinion one of the biggestadvances that I have seenthis industry
a long, long time. The Gavita Master Controllerhas got sunrise to sunset options. The options on this thing are amazing. Goyour garden.Turn off the breaker to your aircon, watch the heatyour garden start rising, andsimultaneously automatically all your lights start diming. Wow! Righté This is truly smarttechnology. We're definitely going to the next level. There is one other great aspect to this. Theyare covering a larger footprint. I have hung these units from my forklift, put down blackand white, grid it out square feet, and used a really highend PAR meter to measure everysquare foot and the 750 Flex is solidly covering
a 5x5 square; the 1000 DE is solidly coveringa 6x6 square. So you definitely have to keep thismind when you're mapping out yourgarden. Then the other aspect that we have to consideris the requirement of high ceiling height. In general, I'm being told not to sell theseunits to anyone with less than a 9foot ceiling becausegeneral we are placing the plantsin 60 inches away, so 5 feet away from the lighting and while allowing the plants togrow into 36 inches away, 3 feet away. Now not everyone is growing the same strains aroundthe world, so it is quite possible that you may have a strain that can take a little morelight. In fact, I had one client who had to
Cannabis seedling Coco coir
Whats up You Tube! Today I'm gonna show you how I grew these plants from seedling to vegetative stage. if you'd like to see atutorial on how to germinate seeds, or how I germinated from seed. click right there I kept the dome at seventy percenthumidity temperatures at 7677 light cycle 18 on and six off. I kept a little bit of waterat the bottom the tray to help with the humidity and also keep the rockwool moist
two days after the seedsthe rockwoolgerminated, The tap root came out the bottom so I transplanted them into a plastic cup at this point the seeds that I plantedCoco are barelycoming up these pots were a bad idea. they y outquickly and the roots get all tangledthem. I had to transplant them over into a cup Day 7 looks like all of the true leaves are coming out. I noticed that two of the plants were
getting a little stretchy Turns out that the light they were under was not strong enough to penetrate through the dome and condensation it was only 214 lumens per square foot I put themmy tent and I switched itout for this 105 watt bulb. Which is a 400 wattequivalent and this one gives me about 5500lumens per square foot
day 14. I can tell that the lightsstopped the stretch. all the other plants are ching up I didn't feed them last week, I should have.and they're showing deficiencies the color is off and there's deformitiesthe leaves so it's time to feed them. I'mgonna give them Fox farms and only use one quarter strength and 6.0 pH and also gonna use someseaweed extract. its organic it wont burn but I'm still gonna use one quarterstrength justcase
day 21 looks like the plants really liked thenutrients I gave them They are giving me new leaves soit's time to Change the nutrient strength. Im gonna do 50 percent nutrient strength. Also fifty percent on the Seaweed extract. I'm also gonna makesome foliar feed solution which is going tobe one quarter strength. The plants are good looking healthy the growingvigorously but I read somewhere that you're notreally officially In vegetative until these little baby leaves fall off. Im gonna wait one more week.
day 28 the baby leaves have fallen offin these plants are officiallyvegetative stage so one thing I noticed was that all the plant are different. I grew them fromseed, I was expecting a little difference but you know I figured since they were land race( as advertised) and the inbred for huneds of years , they wouldbe the same but they're not some are shorter some aretaller some have fatter leaves.
